Descriptions of Assignments
If you do not complete all of these assignments, please know that you will FAIL your ExCo. That would be sad; please don’t fail teaching your ExCo.
Attendance at ExCo Fair
Get people to sign up for your class! Remember, you have to use a random lottery unless you have an application. Instructors must arrive at the fair at 5:30 and remain there until 8:30 to help clean up. The fair runs from 6-8 in the Carnegie Root Room. If you cannot be present at the fair, make sure you get a proxy to run your table!
Signed Instructor Agreement
Agreements will be available at the ExCo Fair. If you cannot be at the fair, contact the ExCo committee and you can come sign one during one of our office hours.
Register for Course
If you are a current Oberlin student, you must register to teach your own course on PRESTO. You register for the C-section of the course, which will have its instructor listed as Elissa Israel. You must register for this even if you are planning to teach the course for 0 credits.
Hold First Class
You must hold your first class by this date so students can know if they want to register for the course before add/drop ends. Make sure you email students who did not get into your course as well as the ones who did.
Consent Students for Course
You must consent students into your course so that they can register for it on PRESTO before add/drop ends on Sept 16. Community members do not need to register for the course. Detailed instructions on how to consent students can be found at this site:
http://www.oberlin.edu/acs/opus/facultyguide.htm#consent.
Class Location/Time Submitted
ExCo will be undergoing a program review as an academic department and we need to make sure that our classes are doing well. Ergo, this semester a member of the ExCo committee will be sitting in on one of your classes just to ensure that you are adhering to your syllabus/actually teaching what you said you were going to teach. We will email you before sitting in on your class. (Note: Please do not stress over this, we understand the individual needs of each ExCo and that changes happen to the syllabus). Anyway, please send us the day/time/place your class meets every week. If you are still looking for a location, information on who to contact can be found here: http://oberlinexco.org/main/node/6.
Class List
You must submit a class list to the ExCo committee in addition to consenting students on PRESTO. We need you to do this for evaluation purposes and because the whole committee cannot access PRESTO information. To submit the class list, go to http://oberlinexco.org/instructors/login.php. Enter the email address you submitted to us on your original Instructor Application. Your password is exco (unless you are a previous instructor and have changed your password. If you do not remember what you changed it to, email us and we will switch it for you). Click on the My Courses tab located towards the top of the page. Click on your course title. Then, click on the No underneath Class List Submitted. Enter the student name, T#, email and number of credits for which the student wants to take the course for each student. You must complete all information for all students to have your list approved.
First Instructor Paper
This is a 1 page, double-spaced reflection paper on your ExCo. It should detail your goals for the ExCo and describe how you plan to achieve those goals. Also, each instructor must submit one, e.g. if your course has two instructors, we should be receiving two papers. Please submit a HARD COPY to the ExCo office (Wilder 302).
Midterm Evaluations
These will be sent by email and submitted electronically. Your students will receive an evaluation to fill out regarding your performance as an instructor as well. Please remind them to fill these out!
Final Evaluations
These will be sent by email and submitted electronically. Your students will receive an evaluation to fill out regarding your performance as an instructor as well. Please remind them to fill these out!
Final Instructor Paper
This is a 2 page, double-spaced paper. It should detail whether you achieved your goals for your class, what your students learned, any difficulties you had achieving your goals, advice to future instructors, etc. Also, each instructor must submit one, e.g. if your course has two instructors, we should be receiving two papers. Please submit a HARD COPY to the ExCo office.
