Meet the Committee
Alex (they/them/theirs) is a fourth year Biology major and Chemistry minor from Denver, Colorado. Alex currently serves as chair of the ExCo Committee, and specializes in data collection and analysis, as well as policy and performance review. They are also in the ongoing process of learning how to run the ExCo website (it’s a struggle). Alex always seeks feedback about how ExCo can best serve the Oberlin community, so feel free to drop by their office hours if you have any suggestions! When not working for ExCo, Alex enjoys spending time with friends, playing mahjong, and working in a biochemistry research lab.
Melissa (she/her/hers) is a fourth year Comparative Literature and East Asian Studies double major with a French minor. She studies French, Korean, and Japanese. Melissa just returned from a semester abroad in Seoul, and we are glad to welcome her back to the ExCo Committee, where she serves as our hard-working, ever-brilliant Presto liaison and policy reviewer. In her free time, Melissa likes baking cupcakes, playing Dragon Age, and running sound boards.
Zane (he/him/his) grew up in Bellingham, WA but lives in Northampton, MA now. Zane is a politics major who might be interested in other things as well. He enjoys running and biking and being outside. He also likes cooking and eating food. This will be Zane’s third year on the Committee, and he spends a lot of time working on institutional memory. Zane’s order from The Local would be a double toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese on one side, pesto on the other, and a tomato in the middle (so that the cream cheese and pesto don’t mix).
Juan (he/him/his) is a third year from Chicago studying Biology and French. This will be his fourth semester working with ExCo and he is really looking forward to it. Juan loves Selena (Quintanilla) and singing alone in his room. Make a Naruto joke or buy him an iced coffee if you want to be his friend.
Liz (she/her/hers) is a second year from Ithaca, New York. This is her second semester on the ExCo Committee, and she is especially excited to work on community outreach. She is interested in Art History and languages, and loves hiking, working on bikes, doing pottery, drinking tea, and making puppets. Although she has recently begun to appreciate the wonders of coffee, her real love is any and all kinds of tea.
